Control by the companies and the parties of their dispute. Whereas in a traditional dispute, each party is subject to the uncertainties of the legal system, mediation allows them to control the content and outcome of the discussions.
Suspension of limitation periods. Article 2238 of the French Civil Code specifies that prescription periods are suspended for the duration of the mediation and start running again at the end of the mediation, in any case for a minimum of 6 months.
